This past week I attended a graduation party for my dear friend Joanne, who I recently did graduation pictures for her. (check out the post here.) I wanted to dress up yet still be comfy because it was a BBQ party. I opted for these destructed black jeans from my favorite denim brand Kancan. They are so comfy and easy to dress up or dress down. My top and necklaces were birthday presents from Nordstrom. The top is on sale for $15.90 and the beaded statement necklace is less than $30. I absolutely love my necklace. It really makes such a basic outfit pop! My shoes are from Justfab, an online personal shopping site where you can find great deals on shoes, clothing and accessories. They currently have a huge sale for Memorial Weekend. Everything is 50% off! For the rest of the outfit detail click on the link below.
On Monday’s I wear black and camo, my uniform to show this week I’m going to kick ass and take names later. 😉 What outfits do you wear that motivate you? I don’t wear a ton of black because I think it darkens my personality. I’m definitely more on the colorful end of the spectrum, but when I do wear black I mean business. As a mom, running errands, working, and juggling a baby, sometimes the color black can be your best friend. It conceals stains better, makes you look slimmer, and is a basic color that goes with almost anything including distressed camo jeans. This v-neck tee I got from Old Navy is a must have for any wardrobe. It flatters any body type and is less than $10!
I couldn’t find my jeans online but I linked similar styles below. Can you tell I love destruction. I’m pretty sure every pair of jeans I own have intentional holes in them. I don’t alter my jeans either. I keep them long because I love the option of being able to roll them up like a capri or cuff them at the ankle.
I recently bought these jeweled sandals from the Buckle, and guess what, they are on sale! I love how fashionably comfy they are, especially since I’m on my feet most of the day. Just got my toes done, so I had to do a close up hehe. Love my layered pendant necklace, its a great accessory that is unique yet doesn’t distract from the overall look. Most of my accessories are from Buckle and can be found in the links below. I hope everyone has a kick butt week!
First blog post using my new lens my husband bought me for my birthday. It is amazing how a lens can change everything. I highly recommend anyone who is looking to blog to invest in a good lens. It makes taking pictures so much easier because you don’t have to edit as much. These pictures above were done at noon and are unedited. The aperture is amazing, and the clarity of the photos really bring out the detail. Even my first picture which is out of focus looks pretty cool! This outfit is a must have for any Texas girl, and one of my favorite comfy casual to wear to work: boots, cutoffs, a Texas shirt to show your state pride, and of course Kendra Scott earrings to complete the look! I’m a big fan these Rock Revival shorts because of their 3″ inseam. The length is long enough that it is appropriate to wear almost anywhere, and there is a subtle bling back pocket detail that you can dress these shorts up or down.
After having a baby I was really self conscious about what I wore. I wanted to be “mom appropriate” but still be fashionable, feel confident, and keep to my sense of style. I didn’t have the flat stomach like I use to and low rise denim with a mid drift top was no longer flattering for my body type.
I started to look at style inspirations and fell in love with Taylor Swifts classic look with her mid-rise bottoms and crop tops. I wanted to experiment with mid rise jeans, but I was a little weary of wearing “mom jeans”. However, I stumbled upon this new brand of denim from Buckle, Kancan denim and instantly fell in love. The mid-rise fit was flattering to my new “mom” figure and was stylish and very affordable, less than $60 for their denim. I invested in my first white distructed denim and loved how they made my legs look. I was never a fan of white denim because I had bigger legs for my body and white jeans seemed to accentuate them. But these jeans actually made me look skinny and kept my stomach in.
Here’s an everyday “running errands” look I paired with a casual Obey crop top and a lightweight scarf to add an extra layer. A scarf is the best accessory to make any look more stylish. The boots are from Qupid and are a must have for any wardrobe. Fringe booties are so versatile and can be worn through the year. My bag is from Olivia+Joy. It also doubles as my diaper bag. I love it because it converts to a backpack and is very convenient when you are carrying a baby around.
So here’s to breaking all the rules and making “mom” jeans fashionable. Fashion has no size or age limit. Be you. Be be-you-tiful!
