8 Daily Activities You Can Do to Stay Fit Without Having to Go the Gym

Can you believe it in one month summer will be soon upon us, and I know what you are thinking bikini season! But who has time to go to the gym, juggle a career, work on a blog, and manage time with their family? I know I don’t! Trying to fit in time to go to the gym is nearly impossible. So how do I stay fit and active without going to the gym? You can check out my post pregnancy transformation here. Mom’s this one’s for you, because I get it. I use to be the biggest gym rat before I had Jayden, even worked out during my pregnancy, but after I had Jayden I realized it wouldn’t be that easy for me to go to the gym everyday. So I improvised, and found everyday things I could do in my own home with my little man that helped me shed the baby weight and keep it off. Here are eight daily activities you can do to stay fit without having to go to the gym.

1. Play at the park 

My kiddo loves being outside, so every chance we get we are outside playing hide go seek, or running up and down the slide, or swinging on the swing set. Instead of sitting on the bench watching your kid play, go join them and you will find yourself not only bonding with your child but having fun too!

2. Walk the dog/baby

I love taking my little guy in his smart trike and taking the puppy for a walk. It is great exercise for everyone. 30 minutes a day can really help get your heart rate up and endorphins going.

3. Ride a bike

My father in law got my hubby a bike and a baby carrier for the bike this year, and Jayden loves taking rides with his daddy. Riding a bike is a great way to get in your cardio and build up your legs

4. Go for a run 

Have you ever pushed a jogging stroller while running? It is a workout, but it’s a great way to get outside and get active with your kiddo. I have a jogging stroller from Graco I use to run with Jayden.

5. Eat with Your Baby

Who has time for a diet when your a mom. The best thing to do is eat with your baby. Why? You eat healthier and smaller meals. Think about it, when you are preparing meals for your kid, you want them to have the best, so you take the time to make their meals as healthy as possible. Instead of preparing something different for yourself and wasting time, make extra and eat what your baby eats. Jayden and I love eating eggs, quinoa, turkey meatballs, and oranges. We eat it everyday. Plus I’m not that great of a cook so I love eating fresh out of the fridge, and sometimes that includes ice-cream. 😉

6. Dance

Who doesn’t love a fun dance party! I love dancing with my kiddo, because he thinks it is the funniest thing, and I will do anything to hear that cute baby laugh of his. Plus you could burn 400 calories dancing for one hour.

7. Carry your child

They will only be little for so long, and soon they will be too big they don’t want to be carried anymore. I love just carrying Jayden around the house and smothering him with kisses, plus it’s a great arm workout.

8. Vacuum/sweep your house

I don’t know about you guys but I get a workout cleaning my house, especially vacuuming. Sometimes just getting down and dirty helps burn those calories.

I know these are all simple daily activities that we can overlook as a workout because we are always looking for the next best thing. But trust me before they had Zumba, Soul Cycle, Kickboxing, Pilates, mom’s found ways to stay active and get fit. And sometimes it’s all just getting back to the basics and just having fun with your kiddo that is the most rewarding work out to have.
