First day back to work and I couldn’t have been more excited! Even if it was part time it was great to get back to doing something I love. I wore this adorable dip dye tank to work. I love how it flows and the high low hem. It worked well with my favorite white destructed jeans and my Magia wedges. I paired it up with this fun cross body bag to tie in the colors together. This look is a classic look that easily transitions into the summer.
I love this business casual chic outfit inspired by my favorite light wash mid-rise destructed boyfriend jeans. Destructed boyfriend jeans are a must have denim for the summer. It’s lightweight, super comfy, and surprisingly looks great in heels. The lace chiffon tank and pearls with these beautiful grey cutout ankle heels adds a touch of feminine detail to balance out the outfit. I added the striped blazer as a layer to complete the look.
Floral prints are making a bold statement this year. It’s an eye catching trend that may seem difficult to incorporate in your wardrobe. However, here’s a look I put together mixing animal and floral prints that show how versatile this can be for layering and as a signature piece.
This floral cardigan is very versatile because of the array of colors you can mix and match with it. It’s perfect to casually layer with a basic colored tank or you can even use it as an over piece with a dress for those cool summer nights. With this look I glammed it up with gold statement accessories and my favorite white denim to make the colors pop. I paired it up with open toe booties, a great transitional boot for the summer. The red animal print chiffon top I have layered under the cardigan is a statement piece by itself, but with the right color combinations it coordinates perfectly with the cardigan. I know you’ve heard tons of naysayers say you can’t mix prints, but remember there are no rules to fashion just trends and critics. Plus nature proves animals and flowers are great together! 😉
After having a baby I was really self conscious about what I wore. I wanted to be “mom appropriate” but still be fashionable, feel confident, and keep to my sense of style. I didn’t have the flat stomach like I use to and low rise denim with a mid drift top was no longer flattering for my body type.
I started to look at style inspirations and fell in love with Taylor Swifts classic look with her mid-rise bottoms and crop tops. I wanted to experiment with mid rise jeans, but I was a little weary of wearing “mom jeans”. However, I stumbled upon this new brand of denim from Buckle, Kancan denim and instantly fell in love. The mid-rise fit was flattering to my new “mom” figure and was stylish and very affordable, less than $60 for their denim. I invested in my first white distructed denim and loved how they made my legs look. I was never a fan of white denim because I had bigger legs for my body and white jeans seemed to accentuate them. But these jeans actually made me look skinny and kept my stomach in.
Here’s an everyday “running errands” look I paired with a casual Obey crop top and a lightweight scarf to add an extra layer. A scarf is the best accessory to make any look more stylish. The boots are from Qupid and are a must have for any wardrobe. Fringe booties are so versatile and can be worn through the year. My bag is from Olivia+Joy. It also doubles as my diaper bag. I love it because it converts to a backpack and is very convenient when you are carrying a baby around.
So here’s to breaking all the rules and making “mom” jeans fashionable. Fashion has no size or age limit. Be you. Be be-you-tiful!

I attended my Founder’s Day luncheon for my sorority this past week. It’s always a great time to reunite with sisters old and new, and one of my favorite things about attending this sorority event is dressing up for it. I recently purchased these darling pointed toe heels from CiciHot with grey cutout detailed ankle strap. I paired it up with a bright low cut satin dress from Bebe and layered it for a more classy look with a fringe cardigan from Billabong. Nothing rings in spring like fringe, bright colors, and fashionable heels.
One thing I’ve learned working in the fashion retail industry while being pregnant is how to be fashion savvy without having to sacrifice comfort or money on maternity clothes that you will only wear a couple of months. Here are six everyday fashion must haves every woman needs to have in their closet that will help them get through their pregnancy without investing in maternity wear.
1. Thanksgiving Jeans – Invest in jeans a size too big that you can grow into, whether you want to be comfortable having a real baby or a food baby. When I found out I was pregnant I bought a pair of light and dark low rise Daytrip skinny from Buckle, and a pair of Flying Monkey Boyfriend Jeans. They were less than $60 and I wore them through my whole pregnancy and are still some of my favorite comfy jeans to lounge around or run errands in post pregnancy. Another great tip to grow in your jeans through your pregnancy is using the hair tie jeans trick to hold them up.
2.Casual Pants – versatile, fun, comfy, and fashionable. There are so many styles out there you can dress it up or dress it down for whatever occasion. In the picture below I was a little daring at 17 weeks showing off my bump in a crop top and aztec printed pants from the Buckle.
3.Flowy tops – Invest in tops that are longer and non form fitting. Not only can you grow in these tops, but they are great to pair up with skinny jeans or leggings as well, which brings us to our next must have.
4. Leggings – Every girl has leggings, and now they come in all different prints and patterns you can really have fun with them. Casual or dressy they will become your best friend in your last trimester. Below are black leggings I bought at Victoria Secret to wear to the gym before I was pregnant. They actually looked really cute dressed up with my flowy BKE Red top and Just Fab boots.
5.Dresses – They are the best when showing off that baby bump. They were also great in hiding my swollen cankles during my last few weeks of my pregnancy when the only shoes my big swollen feet could fit in were slippers and flip flops.
6. Extra Long tank tops – Last but not least extra long tank tops. They are the best layering piece under all those shirts that maybe too little but you are still determined to wear so you can show off your bump. By my third trimester I refused to buy any new clothes. I had only a couple weeks left and I was going to make my tops fit, hence my awesome fashion statement below. Like I said there’s nothing extra long tank tops can’t help. 😉
So remember ladies, save your money, and invest in fashion pieces that you can wear before, during, and after your pregnancy. With these 6 key pieces in your wardrobe, you may never have to spend a dime on maternity clothes.
