Happy hump day everyone!

This week is literally flying by, and I did stay up super late so I could share this adorable spring outfit perfect for Easter or a day at the beach. I also wanted to talk to you guys about the importance of finding your unique style as a fashion blogger in this heavily saturated industry. Lets face it, it seems like there are a million and one fashion bloggers out there, and several of them working for the same companies, getting the same product to advertise. It can get very discouraging seeing one blogger, copy another blogger, posting the same outfit down from the same dress and shoes and calling it their own. Honestly as a blogger who follows a ton of fashion blogger. I get it, you are following a trend. But there is a big difference between following a trend, copying a trend, and setting the trend. Do you know where you fall?

Monogrammed Must Haves for Summer

Monogrammed Must Haves for Summer - Dawn P. Darnell

Hey guys, who is excited for pool parties, cold drinks, watermelon, going to the beach, and everything else associated with summer? I know I am! When I use to live in Florida, you would find me at the beach ever chance you got. I lived so close I would run to the beach from my apartment. Now that I live back in Houston and with a little toddler in tow, the neighborhood pool, or a weekend trip to Galveston is where we spend most of our summer. As a momma, I love having my own personalized things at public places, number one, it is less likely to get stolen, and number two it is super stylish, and number three being a sorority girl at heart, anything monogrammed is a must!  Below are some of my monogrammed must haves for the summer, and where you can get your very own too! Pretty in Pink

This past weekend I attended my dearest friend, sister, PIC, and fellow Houston Blogger Style the Girl‘s baby shower. I was so excited to share this moment with her and all her dear friends and family to honor her little girl Sofia Everly. It was everything you would imagine a little girl’s baby shower would be, filled with pink, lace, and all things shabby chic. As her Phi Mu sister we were excited to welcome the first legacy in our group of friends. All of our other sisters, including myself, had boys, and we ready to add a girl in the group.

Chanel Inspired Fringe Tweed Jacket

So this past month since we moved into our new home, my husband and I have been exploring our new hobby of antiquing and refurbishing old furniture. I love the idea of making something old new again. One day while out antiquing we decided to stop at a Goodwill to see if we could find an old table or dresser. Though we didn’t find any luck with furniture I did stumble on this beautiful vintage tweed blazer. Continue reading “Chanel Inspired Fringe Tweed Jacket”

Black and White with a Flare

Lately with all this rain, I’ve appreciated the need for fashion hats for the Fall. I’m a big fan for floppy hats and this has been one that has transitioned from summer to fall with me. As a mom, sometimes doing my hair is a luxury, and those days I can’t I love just throwing on a nice pair of jeans, a soft tee, and a hat. Continue reading “Black and White with a Flare”

Motherhood from Every Angle and My Mommy Uniform

DSC05716

This past week I was featured in a series called “Motherhood From Every Angle,” from one of my fellow mommas and an amazing lifestyle blogger Beauty and the Binky. I loved being part of these series and being part of a great group of mothers who share their stories and experiences as a mom. Some times we can all be caught up in the right and wrongs of parenting that we realize there is no such thing as right and wrong. Ever child, every mom, every family is different, but there is one thing that stays the same and that is the love and pride they have for their child. Here is an excerpt of the introductory part of the interview:

5 Tips I Learned From My Sephora Makeover To Get A Picture Perfect Look

IMG_1293

Last Friday I had my first ever makeover from Sephora. I finally got to use my gift card I received for my birthday, and I was so glad I was able to get the full makeover experience. Normally I am a mascara, lipgloss kind of girl, but this time around I wanted to learn how to get the natural air brushed look without looking like I caked on makeup. When it comes to makeup I’m no expert, but I love trying new things, and experimenting with new trends. Emily my makeup artist was so sweet and great at explaining what she was doing. Though I’m still not quite there in doing flawless makeup like she did with me, I did learn a couple of cool tricks and tips I thought I would share with you.
