Guide to Choosing Your First Hunter Boots

Hey guys,

With hurricane season down here in full effect in Houston, my rain boots are definitely a staple in my wardrobe. I love my new hunter boots I just purchased, but it took me awhile to find the right fit for my petite frame. One thing about being so short (5’2”) and petite is sometimes you have the option to buy adult or buy kids boots. I decided before settling on a pair, to order three different kinds of hunter boots to see which one fit me best. I ordered the original tall, the hunter boots, and the kids size. Check out my video and pictures in this post to see which one worked best for me!

Home Office Tour

I can’t believe it. I am finally done! My home office is officially complete after a year of putting it together. I think the biggest thing for me was making sure to keep true to my own unique style by incorporating pieces that have personal meaning so it inspires me. I love all the bright colors, pops of gold and yellow, and all my inspirational wall art. My office is where I spend most of my time creating, writing, and brain storming for my blog. It is also multi functional as a dressing room, with a vanity desk separate from my working desk, so I have space and room to play around with my make up, as well as make YouTube videos. It is the one place in the house that the boys are not allowed in. It’s my Girl Cave. I have to give a special shout out to my wonderful husband who helped make my vision came to life. Half of these pieces were either constructed, painted or put together by him. So I hope you enjoyed this home office tour, I’ve linked as much as I can from my office below.

Tasting Room Blogger Brunch + Hydrangea Skirt

CHICWISH SKIRT, HYDRANGEA SKIRT, MIDI SKIRT, POM HEELS, FLORAL SKIRT

This past weekend I cohosted a wonderful brunch with Alice from Lone Star Looking Glass at the Tasting Room in City Center. It was such a great time with some of my favorite blogger babes with delicious food and wine. Did you catch it on my Instastory or Snapchat? It was definitely a perfect mom’s day out! If you haven’t been to the Tasting Room, their cocktails are dangerously good. There wasn’t a single one of their 1920’s inspired concoction I didn’t like. For the event I wore this beautiful hydrangea midi skirt and sweet knot bustier top. This outfit is the perfect brunch outfit for summer. Check out the full outfit below!

Texas State Railroad Museum

Happy Friday ya’ll,

Father’s day is just around the corner and I wanted to share our Father’s day trip we took last weekend. I know ya’ll want to see more of my family and little guy on the blog, so what better way than today’s post. Since Josh works this weekend we decided to do a fun Father’s day trip with his family this past week, which included four generation of Darnell men. How cool is that? We took Jayden to his first ever steam engine train ride at the Texas State Railroad museum where Josh went when he was a kid. It seriously was such a fun time with the whole family, and memories we will cherish forever. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend going, especially if your little guy is just as obsessed with trains as our little man. Check out the video above and the pictures below!

4 Reasons Why Mom’s Night Out is Beneficial For Your Family

abaci, body icon dress, wrap dress, olive dress, wrap around heels, wrap heels, cheetah clutch

Last Saturday I had such an amazing kid free day with my girlfriends and blogger babes filled with brunch, the pool, and endless amount of wine. It was definitely much-needed for this momma. Let’s face it no one likes a stressed out angry mom, and when you have been in the house all week potty training your very active two-year old like I have this past week, the walls of your home can seem like they are closing down on you. So when Saturday rolled around I chucked up the deuces at my husband and my son, and from 9am till 11pm I was nowhere to be seen. I needed a day to just recharge, hang out with my girlfriends, and feel validated that I was more than just a potty maid waiting on my son’s every bowel movement. So here’s the deal mamas I know we can feel guilty for having time for ourselves, but today I am going to prove to you why mom’s night out is beneficial for your family. So next time you do have a Mom’s Night out you can be stress and guilt free.

Tips to Rocking a Denim Skirt this Summer

off the shoulder top, bauble ball earring, asymmetrical top, whip stitch cross body bag, boat hat, denim skirt, summer look, how to style a denim skirt

It’s summer and that means time to bring out the shorts and skirts, especially your denim skirt. Yup the 90’s are back and in full force, and today I’m sharing some tips to rocking that denim skirt this summer. Let’s me be honest with you. I haven’t worn a denim skirt since middle school, and coincidently enough this skirt is from the girl’s section at Zara’s that probably my thirteen years old self could have fit in. But hey, when you are petite like me, shopping for things that fit my size usually leads me to the kid’s section. But the best thing about this skirt it has an adjustable waist band room for me to grow. Lol I might not grow in height but come Thanksgiving and Christmas I might need a little bit more room in my waist. Check out how I styled this denim skirt and tips so you can rock it too!

I am Not a Stay at Home Mom

RED OFF THE SHOULDER BASKET WEAVE TOP WITH BOW TIE WAIST, houndstooth skirt, puff sleeves, love cross body bag, flap bag, louboutin heels, black patent heels

I remember one of my very first post during my pregnancy I contemplated the issue of being a stay at home mom or being a working mom (view post here). Little did I know before having a child that no matter what kind of mom you were it’s all work. It took me a year after staying home for a couple of months, then working full time for a couple of months, to realizing that neither option worked for me. But during that year, my little mom blog began to grow, and it became my little business. Eventually it became a good source of income to where I was able to focus on it and work from home. But I am not a stay at home mom.
